Co-organized by our association, the Ningbo International Lighting Fair grandly opened on May 8 at the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. After 15 years of development, the fair has become China's second-largest lighting exhibition, consistently adhering to the principle of “full industry chain coverage, comprehensive resource utilization, and multi-level recycling.” This year’s event spans over 60,000 square meters across all eight halls of the venue, attracting more than 2,000 exhibitors showcasing tens of thousands of new products. The fair covers the entire lighting industry supply chain—from materials, components, power supplies, light sources, LED packaging, and related equipment to outdoor lighting, commercial lighting, and urban lighting solutions. Over 20 lighting forums were held onsite, bringing together industry experts and enterprise representatives to discuss trends and future opportunities. According to preliminary statistics, attendance on May 8 exceeded 30,000!

On May 8, two high-quality forums hosted by our association were successfully held in Hall 7 of the lighting fair. Guided by the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce and organized by the Ningbo Lighting Electrical Appliance Industry Association, with co-organizers Ningbo Gaosheng International Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Amazon Global Selling, the morning forum focused on the theme “Innovation, Integration, and Shared Development,” while the afternoon roundtable brought together six industry leaders to deeply discuss “Collaborative Development between Associations and Enterprises.” The forums gathered experts and representatives from leading enterprises to explore topics such as overseas market expansion and industrial export strategies. They not only addressed challenges facing Ningbo’s lighting industry in foreign trade but also proposed multiple strategies and development directions through a renewed understanding of “foreign trade.”

Li Yongping, Founding President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Ningbo
From Chen Chaofei’s presentation, we gained deeper insights into Q1 2024 export trends in the lighting industry—including key characteristics, national export dynamics, major destination markets, product categories, and insurance claim patterns. Chen Yuwu from Amazon Global Selling reviewed 2023 cross-border e-commerce export performance and analyzed how businesses can seize emerging opportunities under current conditions. Li Yongping showcased successful cases of the European Chamber of Commerce in Ningbo regarding overseas investment, market expansion, and business services. As the lighting industry embraces digital transformation and explores global markets, Cai Xiaoyu, Vice President of the Ningbo Lighting Association and Chairman of Ningbo Yuxing Group, noted that deep-rooted industry experience can sometimes lead to rigid thinking. However, under new circumstances, Ningbo’s lighting sector is proactively adapting—reinterpreting foreign market demands and taking initiative to “row upstream” against market headwinds. He also emphasized that insufficient product innovation has weakened competitiveness for some companies globally. Many untapped niches remain in LED lighting, and Ningbo enterprises should prioritize product innovation to lead consumer markets forward.
